History

Elizabeth Dorsey organized the first “Art Tea” in 1978.  She had a vision of giving every student in Manhattan Beach recognition for their talent.   The event has grown to exhibiting 120 pieces last year.  Photography is a category alongside the many other mediums of art.    Ribbons are given to all artists, while 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners receive cash awards.   After pieces are selected from the schools by a committee of five, three professional artists from the community come to select the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners.

The Neptunians want to support art in the home and schools, and consider it their privilege to offer this event to the community.
